A Tribute to Ray Tipton

Ray Tipton celebrated his 90th birthday this last week and many of us gathered to honor him over lunch on Sunday.  While we don’t usually single out members on their birthday, Ray is an exception due to his long years as a member and servant to the church here at South Salem.  Here from its inception, Ray has served both as a deacon and an elder for many years.  It was not too long after Claudia passed away (his wife of 65 years) that Ray stepped down from the eldership.  Still, you can find Ray in his same seat at most every worship and Bible class.  If somebody was moving, Ray has been there helping to carry boxes.  If someone was sick and you went to the hospital to visit them, Ray had already been there.  While he might not be well known elsewhere, he is certainly a South Salem treasure!
